"Overthinker" with Creative Embellishments

Hello, crafty friend! Welcome back to my blog. It's a new month, so it's starting Creative Embellishments Blog. Hello, CE fans! Welcome back to the blog! If you know me, you know I do everything with intention. Today's piece of art signifies something deeper than meets the eye. This canvas is a dedication piece to all my "overthinkers" out there. The gears turn as they always do. Turn as they may, but let them turn in a positively colorful way! Don't get stuck in a rut. Always trust your gut!

Product List

***Let's turn our gears, shall we?!***

1. You'll want to begin by laying down a nice layer of black gesso over the entire canvas

2. While that dries, alter your chipboard and castings using black gesso and acrylic paints

3. After the gesso is completely dry, use some paste and a stencil for some background texture

4. Using some silver wax add it to the raised surfaces

*Hint: Using silver wax, I did highlight the background (Lightbulb) of the Medusa casting

5. Assemble your layout beginning with the lightbulb, then the gear castings

6. Adhere your third level of embellishments (wings, Medusa)

7. Splatter silver paint over the entire surface

*Hint: This gives the piece some extra contrast and ties in with the silver wax

7. Distress the edges with the same silver acrylic paint used to splatter

*Hint: This gives the piece some extra contrast and gives it a complete finished look

8. As the final touch, add your steampunk label casting

***Here are some close-ups for you to enjoy!***
